This page answers Heavy Questions from a Biblical Perspective.

Dear Sistahs,

My mother gets on my nerves really bad.  I can't seem to do anything right.  We just don't seem to be able to get along at all.  When we talk, we always end up arguing.  I've had It.

Willing to Try

Response:

Dear Willing to Try,

Communicating especially with parents can be difficult.  If you are a Christian, you should continue to try to keep the lines of communication open between you and your mom.  The Bible encourages us to live at peace with each other and that also means those whom we live with in our homes.  Since you have a desire to want to get along, pray and ask for the Holy Spirit to intervene in the situation.  Believe, be patient and expect a change to come.

Dear Sistahs,

I am trying to help my friend with a particular burden.  How do I help her without getting too involved?

Burden Bearer

Response:

Dear Burden Bearer,

In Galatians 6:2 it says, "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you fulfill the law of Christ."   We have a responsibility to lend a helping hand when we can.  There are some instances where we cannot change a circumstance or situation but we can show we care by giving our love and support.  Sometimes it might be through prayer alone.  In other instances, depending on the burden, we may be able to do something tangible such as giving money if the burden is financial or offering to babysit if a mom needs some "relief" time, or just offering to listen.  You should pray and ask God to show you how you can be used to help in a given situation.  Allow Him to guide you and He will let you know to what extent you should be involved.
