AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

​

Currently there is one community youth program at Twelfth Baptist Church offered through the Second African Meeting House. The Twelfth Baptist Church After School Program is a faith based out of school time provider that has been serving the Roxbury community for over 10 years. 

Mission:

Presently working with high need youth in the Roxbury area between the ages of 5-14, the mission of the Twelfth Baptist Church After-School Program is to be a home-school connection designed to strengthen the child and family by offering academic support, and spiritual and character development in a safe, nurturing environment, while building their socio-emotional and citizenship competencies.

Vision:
Within the next 3 years we plan to expand our area of service by increasing the number of programs we offer. S.A.M.H hopes to launch 2 additional youth programs that will serve Boston teens, ages 13-19, during out of school time.

Philippians 2:15…”That you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world”

Dear Lord, we pray that you are pleased with our work, as we teach and train your children to become powers for good in society. Continue to equip us with the knowledge, skills, people and resources we need to effectively educate and empower your children. Allow your Holy Spirit to instruct, instill and inspire us with the proper tools to build character and integrity, develop social emotional competencies and tutor with academic excellence in mind. All these things we ask in Jesus name. Amen

The goals of our up and coming Teen programs are an extension of what we are presently doing in the after-school program. Under the umbrella of Teen Programs @ Twelfth, we will offer gender specific programming that exclusively focuses on the personal growth and development of male and female youth in the inner city. The two Programs, PEER 6:2 - A Mentorship/Leadership Program for Boys and R.A.W. -A Self/Esteem Empowerment Program for Girls, will run simultaneously after school and during the summer to fulfill the mission and meet the goals outlined below.
Teen Program Mission:

Our mission is to provide gender specific, teen programming in Roxbury designed to develop the social-emotional, academic and citizenship competencies necessary for adolescence and adulthood based on individual capacity, ability, strengths and formative needs.
We believe that the achievement of positive youth outcomes comes by accomplishing the following goals...

ANGEL TREE MINISTRY

 

MISSION STATEMENT

The Twelfth Baptist Church Prison Ministries seek to minister grace and love to families affected by crime and incarceration.

 

VISION STATEMENT

We engage in loving, nonjudgmental acts of service and mercy to those who are in prison and families of incarcerated individuals.

 

SCRIPTURE

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Matthew 25: 35–36

GOALS AND STRATEGIES
 

1. To support inmates incarcerated through the Prison Ministries.

  • Inform the congregation of opportunities to support by means of

  • announcements or weekly bulletins.

  • Recruit team members to work on the inside and outside the teams.

  • Provide materials for support such as cookies, prayer vigils, and agape letters.

  • Provide financial support to help pay for inmates to.

 

2. To work with the Ministries and Prison Fellowship in supporting children of incarcerated families

  • Support families with Camps for children of incarcerated parents.

  • Work in conjunction with the Angel Tree program of Prison Fellowship Ministries to provide Christmas gifts for children of incarcerated parents.

 

Book shelf ministry

 

Mission:

The Bookshelf is open after Sunday Morning Worship Service. The Bookshelf provides Bibles, Bible accessories, devotional guides, assorted cards, and spiritual literature to members and visitors, to support and promote the mission of Twelfth Baptist Church.

 

Vision:

Through the availability of biblical literature, the Bookshelf Ministry seeks to encourage and enlighten TBC members and non-members, who seek a personal relationship with the Lord, to practice a Godly lifestyle that supports their spiritual growth and builds up the body of Christ.

 

Scriptures:

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he will direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)

Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with the gift each of you has received.  I Peter 4:10 (NRSV)

 

Focused Prayer:

We pray for the Spiritual wisdom that will help us to sustain the Bookshelf as a vibrant and vital ministry of TBC.

 

Goals:

  • To expand Bookshelf staffing to ensure the availability of at least two staff members each Sunday of the month for coverage.

  • To maintain appropriate levels of inventory, especially, for the most sought after items (e.g., Bibles, The Upper Room Devotional Guide, and boxed greeting cards).

  • To diversify and expand the inventory based on members’ requests.

  • To increase current yearly Bookshelf sales revenue by $1000 over the next two (2) years. Revenue should exceed expenditures.

 

Strategy:

  • Prayerfully recruit four (4) individuals to serve in the Bookshelf to replace staff who are no longer serving in the ministry in order to provide adequate coverage each Sunday.

  • Survey the TBC membership to determine which items have the highest demand.

  • Survey the TBC membership to determine which new items should be added to the inventory.

  • Use additional sales revenue to offset increased cost of inventory.

 

Action Plan:

  • The coordinator will prepare guidelines for recruitment outreach.

  • Each current Bookshelf staff member will recruit one individual to join the ministry.

  • The coordinator will prepare a survey with input from staff to distribute to the members of TBC to find out which specific items they would like to have available in the Bookshelf.

  • Members of the Ministry will visit Jubilee’s Sanctuary Bookstore and meet with the manager to review their inventory and find out which items are the most popular sellers.

AUDIO VISUAL MINISTRY

MISSION STATEMENT

●    To distribute the sound and visuals of church worship and special services throughout the sanctuary and various church facilities. 
●    To take the Word outside the walls of this church through various Internet Media Outlets
●    To document the activities of the church using Audio, Video and Photography 
●    To be a multimedia research and learning center for the Christian community.

SCRIPTURE

●    How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? Romans 10:14.
●    Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalms 51:10

ACTION ITEMS

1.    Public Address, for Sunday services and other church activities
a.    Set up microphones and operate equipment to reinforce public speaking and musical presentations to sanctuary.
b.    Operate audio equipment for distributing audio to areas of the church outside the sanctuary.

2.    Video Recording and Distribution
a.    Set up video cameras and operate equipment to capture and distribute the sanctuary visual activities along with its audio component to other areas of the church.
b.    Record the video and audio proceedings in the sanctuary and other areas for documentation, distribution, sale and broadcast.

a.    Provide video recordings for those who can’t come to regular services or events because of confinement or inability.

4.    Teaching and Learning Resource
a.    Provide library of speakers, topics, history, and any other recordings for study, review and edification from recorded archives.
b.    Provide mentoring and training opportunities for those interested in developing and contributing skill in the area of Audio Video and Media production and operations. 

5.    Photo Documentation
a.    Provide photo documentation of church life for annual reports and special projects.
b.    Provide library of photos for research, documentation and historic purposes.

6.    Fellowship 
a.    To hold each other up before the Lord, as we strive to do His will.
b.    To share ministry resources with other churches who may need training and development opportunities
c.    To participate in field trips and workshops to further develop AV ministry competence, passion, and capacity.

OVERVIEW    

The functioning of this ministry is shared between two teams that are asked to serve a total of six alternating months out of each year; the Ministry Director is responsible for overall coordination of the ministry

STAFF / OFFICERS

•    Ministry Director: Oversees ministry, vision, mission, administration, and members. Reports to Senior Pastor
●    Technical Director:  Oversees operation of physical equipment and strategic application of supportive technologies: Assists and Reports to ministry director.
●    Ministry Secretary: Keep all ministry records and facilitates communications.
●    Even Team Leader: Coordinates AV services during Even numbered months
●    Odd Team Leader: Coordinates AV services during Even numbered months
●    Co-Team Leaders: One for each even and odd team, assist their respective team leaders in their duties.
●    Sales Team Leader:  Coordinates, fulfillment of sales orders and distribution of products
●    Photo Team Leader: Coordinates photo documentation, photographers, service teams and vendors.
●    Camera Operators: Sets up and operates video cameras
●    PA Mixer Operator: – sets up and operates Public address systems in Sanctuary, Hester Hall, Shaw Hall, and other locations. 
●    Video Mixer Operator: Operates video switcher, and instructs camera operators. 
●    Audio Mixer / Recordist: - set up and operate audio mixing systems for AV recording and distribution systems.
●    Video Recorder: Sets up and operates DVD and Hard Disk Video recording systems 
●    Photographer: Operates still photography systems to capture people and events in for TBC usage. 

BABY DEDICATION MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION : The Baby Dedication Ministry is a faith-based service where parents publicly commit to raising their children according to their religious beliefs and values. It often involves a ceremony during a worship service where a pastor or church leader prays for the child and the family. The ministry focuses on supporting families through spiritual guidance, resources, and community activities to help nurture the child's faith and development.

BLACK HISTORY MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION: Our ministerial efforts emphasize, unveil and preserve the substance of African American heritage in the history of Twelfth Baptist Church to its members and the broader community.

BOOKSHELF MINISTRY

Mission/ VISION 
The Bookshelf Ministry Room is located in the Narthex, is temporarily closed.
During many previous years of operation, this non-profit Ministry was open every Sunday after the Morning Worship Service.
The Bookshelf supports and promotes the mission of Twelfth Baptist Church through the sale of Bibles, Bible accessories, devotional guides, assorted boxed cards, and spiritual literature to members and visitors.
Focus: The Bookshelf Ministry encourages TBC members and non-members to seek a personal relationship with the Lord, and to practice a Godly lifestyle that supports their spiritual growth and builds up the body of Christ.

The Bookshelf maintains inventory and conducts sales during its hours of operation.

To maintain adequate inventory based on the needs and interest of TBC members.

CENTRAL OFFICE MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION: The Central Office Ministry serves as the administrative and organizational hub for our church community and network. It coordinates various ministries, manages resources, oversees church plans, and provides support to local church body. The office typically handles communications, and scheduling for Senior Pastor and  church leaders, ensuring that the overall mission and vision of the denomination of the Church or network are carried out efficiently and effectively.

CHRISTIAN PRESCHOOL

MISSION / VISION: Our Christian preschool's mission is to provide a nurturing, faith-based educational environment for young children ages 2.9 yrs.—6 yrs. Of age. The primary goals are to foster early childhood development, instill Christian values, and prepare children for future academic success. This mission often includes teaching foundational skills—such as literacy, numeracy, and social interaction—while integrating Biblical principles and spiritual growth through stories, songs, prayers, and activities that reflect Christian teachings. (Temporarily Closed).

GUIDING SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 22:6 Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

CLOTHES RACK / THRIFT SHOP

MISSION / VISION: To  inspect the donated items to make sure that they are in good clean condition to be sold and thereby provide clothing or other household items to the community at a nominal fee or for a love gift, and to minister the love of God to anyone who comes in.

GUIDING SCRIPTURE: SCRIPTURE Matthew 6:1-4 be careful not to do your “acts of righteousness” before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven, oo when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth; they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

COMPUTER LAB MINISTRY – Per appointment -

MISSION / VISION: To use the computer lab as a safe Christian based facility for evangelism as well as academic and occupational readiness. In small groups or individually help or tutor our members to increase their  effective and efficient use  of personal computers and smart devices.

DEACONATE 

MISSION

The mission of the Board of Deacons is to be servant leaders for the purpose of assisting the pastor in enabling the church to fulfill its Kingdom Agenda. 


VISION STATEMENT:

  • To be leaders, but serve as to be servants by following the example of Jesus as a servant leader. 

  • Build on the Foundation of Jesus Christ by modeling a life acceptable to God and the Church, and that is worthy of imitation by other Christians.

  • Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give

His life as a ransom for many.

PRAYER FOCUS:

 

Goal 1: 

To extend the love of God to our pastor by assisting him in providing Christ-centered ministries to meet the temporal needs of the people whom God loves:

  • Support the pastors and leaders by being “Aaron and Hur.” In the battle   in Exodus 17, as long as Moses had his hands raised toward heaven, the Israelites prevailed; when he tired and lowered his hands, the Amalekites won. So Aaron and Hur held Moses’ hands up until Israel won the battle. 

  • Accompanied the Pastor on engagements to other churches

  • Assist the Pastor in implementing his vision and programs.

  •  Assist the pastor  with carrying out the mission and vision of the  church.

  • Assist in carrying on the business of the church.

  • Support the Pastor as he ministers to the body of Christ.

 

Goal 2:

To build up the body of Christ by Modeling for the church members God’s compassion, kindness, mercy and love.

 

  • Calls members to inquire as to their welfare and asks if the church can help in any way for those deemed in need by leadership of the church nor mission.

  • Follow-up with all new members assigned to individuals

  • Check, on inactive members who may need assistance getting back to church

  • Address the needs of those who request spiritual, physical and social help.

  • Minister, Support, visit, and comfort known  sick, shut-in, homebound, and bereaved members.  or friends providing spiritual and physical support

 

Goal 3:

To Help Lead the Church in worshipping God in our Corporate and individual lives.

  • Lead the Church to engage in a fellowship of worship.

  • Home Communion – organize the distribution of Communion to the sick or homebound members.

  • Weekly Prayer Services – maintain, promote and nurture the prayer life of members and others

  • Evangelize to the unsaved and unchurch especially in the immediate community

  • Plan and implement the Ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

  • Baptisms – prepares the facilities and cooperate with the Deaconess in preparing candidates for baptism once a month or as requested by the Pastor. 

  • Conduct intake interviewing for re-instatements, letter or Christian experienced, candidates when expressing a desire to become a member of the Twelfth Baptist Church family

  • Assign and oversee the preparation for membership and new member’s orientation and Bible Class

  • .Engage in church activities that promote evangelism and missionary service, promoting the Great Commission.

DISTINGUISH BROTHERHOOD

MISSION STATEMENT:
To serve God through support of the Mission and Vision of Twelfth Baptist utilizing the gifts and calling of men aged 60 and older.
VISION STATEMENT:
To provide a setting for senior men to have fellowship while exploring the Word of God. In other words, the setting will be informal. Everyone will be able to read and ask questions as they present themselves.
SCRIPTURE:
Joel 2:28-33a “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
29. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
30 I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 31The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. 32 And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved...”
FOCUSED PRAYER
Dear heavenly Father, we thank you for the longevity you’ve granted us. Your grace and mercy have brought us to these more than 80 years, for one of us, and the more than 80 for another. Thank you. And w'e thank you for allow ing us to be able to appreciate what you’ve granted us. Forgive us for not being as appreciative as your grace warrants.

 DORCAS PARTNERSHIP MINISTRY

Dorcas  Partnership Mission Statement:

The Dorcas Ministry will assist the Pastor, the Ministerial staff and the Diaconate in addressing the needs of church members  of “Twelfth Baptist Church” who are sixty five years (65) plus.
                                                                                                               
The Vision:

1.Expand  the  Dorcas Ministry’s Team of Christian Volunteers who meet the needs    of  Twelfth Baptist Church’s growing membership of ( 65) plus years plus  members.
2. Keep undated computerized information on church member who are sixty (65)     
    Years plus.    

Goals:                                                                                                                                                   
1. To build a stronger voice and a reliable team  of Dorcas members. 
                                         
Recruit and train new members
       Put notices in the church bulletin, to recruit new members..                                  

2. To develop better Communication with outside resources such as Nursing homes, physicians, Social Workers and families.

Dorcas (Tabitha) was a God fearing woman of  Joppa who showed her love for Jesus Christ by doing good deeds throughout her community (Acts  9:36-40)

Dear Lord we seek to glorify your name in all that we do in the Dorcas Partnership Ministry.  We
Need your Guidance and blessings to meet the needs of our 65 plus members.  Twelfth Baptist 
Church is growing and we anticipate an increase in numbers of senior members as a part of this 
Growth. To address this issue we need to increase our team of volunteers, connect families who will
work together on family issues, and we need to become more enlighten in order to identify local new works as resources,  lord we put all these concerns in your hand trusting and knowing that you can do all things.  Thank you Lord for giving us a chance to worship you in this ministry. We lift these   concerns up to you, in Jesus name. Amen !

  The chair lady will interview all new volunteers before they begin their Training.  
  Training will consist of attending ( 6) monthly meetings, teaming up with a more
  Seasoned member of  Dorcas for a least (3) team home visit.


  Request for Dorcas Partnership Ministry interventions are assigned by the chair
  Lady and /or Dorcas team members at a monthly meeting where it is discussed.

DRAMA & POETRY MINISTRY

The Christian Education Ministries of Twelfth Baptist Church will invite people and communities of faith to be transformed as they are inspired and challenged.

Through Christian Education disciples will be inspired and challenged to know and experience God through Jesus Christ, claim and live God’s promises, and grow and serve as Christian disciples.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Represent and advocate for a Sunday School ministry for all age levels and groups

 

Be well-acquainted with the age-level characteristics and needs of the congregation in general and specifically in our neighborhood.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Work with Board of Christian Education

  • Evaluate/assess the present ministry of the Sunday School program

  • Suggest and implement new possibilities for ministry through the Sunday School

  • Work with others, such as the pastor and trustees, to assure our church is a safe place for all

  • Set goals, evaluate, and report progress of the Sunday school programs to appropriate boards, and groups

  • Serve as member of the church council and other

  • Gather information about and recruit persons willing and gifted in area of Sunday School ministry for senior pastor review

  • Invite teaches and leaders to participate in Sunday School ministry

  • Know available resources for all Sunday School groups and for leaders/teachers who care to lead those groups

  • Determine needs of the Sunday School program and help to locate and obtain needed materials from appropriate resources

  • Keep appropriate records of the Sunday School program

FOOD PANTRY MINISTRY

Mission
The Twelfth Baptist Church Food Pantry's mission is to provide a week's supply of food to those who need food in our community and congregation. In doing so, we fulfill the Mission of Twelfth Baptist Church: "to extend the love of God."
Vision
Fighting Hunger—Feeding hope 
Twelfth Baptist Church shall address and minister to the social issue of hunger by providing nourishing food items to families within our congregation and surrounding community trusting in the Lord to expand our program as the need increases.

Proverbs 14:31-- Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.
Proverbs 21:13--Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered.

Focused Prayer
Lord God, we thank you for choosing us to receive the faith to believe in Jesus as Savior and acknowledge Him as Lord. We W1you will use us to draw someone into your marvelous light as you use us to help prevent hunger in our neighborhood.

Goals
1. Provide food for 11 nutritious meals every week, by May 2012.

2. Recruit 5 volunteers to participate in the Walk for Hunger annually.

3. Provide free clothing in partnership with the TBC Clothes Rack twice a year, on Tuesday, the food distribution day.
4. Recruit six youth volunteers to help prepare and distribute of bags each summer.
5. Develop alternative sources for food supplies when in short supply at the Greater Boston Food Bank.
6. Increase funding by 15% annually.
Strategy
1. Continue to pray for the clients who come to the Food Pantry.
2. Invite clients to visit Twelfth Baptist Church on Sunday and for outreach activities (cook-outs).
3. Continue to distribute turkeys for Thanksgiving, whole chickens for Christmas and hams for Easter. 
4. Ensure timely pick up of donations from restaurants and bakeries. 
5. Continue to solicit donations from supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries, Post Offices and other sources.
6. Recruit volunteers by holding a summer cookout and a Christmas luncheon.
7. Participate in Greater Boston Food Bank sponsored activities as required (trainings), or when invited (luncheons).

GIRL SCOUT MINISTRY

The girl scouts of Massachusetts meet at TBC on the second Saturday and the Forth Saturday of the Month, we have 9 girls and 4 volunteers. We start every meeting with prayer and a bible verse, we have hands on activities, we take field trips. The girls sell cookies and they do booth sales. The girls get rewards and patches for their uniforms.. We do community service, we also recruit new members. When we are out in the community

Help people at all times, do their best to be honest and fair, courageous and strong and responsible for what they say and do. GOLF MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION: Our Church's Golf Ministry is a program designed to use golf as a way to foster fellowship, community, and outreach among church members and beyond. It typically involves organizing regular golf outings, tournaments, and events where participants can enjoy the sport while building relationships.

The ministry may also incorporate devotional times, prayer, and discussions about faith, aiming to create a relaxed environment where individuals can connect spiritually and socially. It can serve as a tool for evangelism, inviting newcomers to join in a non-traditional church activity.

GRANT WRITING MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION: Aligning its work to overeaching tenets, the Grants Ministry explores funding opportunities that parallel with Twelfth Baptist Church’s goals relating to community outreach, family services and capital improvements. Working with the Senior Pastor, the ministry seeks opportunities to support programs and building use by writing for grants.

HOSPITALITY MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION: "At Twelfth Baptist Church Hospitality Ministry, our mission is to extend love and hospitality to all members and visitors in alignment with 1 Peter 4:8-9, aiding our pastor by fostering a welcoming and grumble-free environment that covers a multitude of sins through deep love and service.
Our vision is to embody a community where every individual feels deeply loved and welcomed, reflecting Christ’s love through our actions and attitudes, and setting a standard for hospitality that encourages spiritual growth and unity within our church and beyond.

GUIDING SCRIPTURE: 1 Peter 4:8-10 NIV
[8] Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. [9] Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. [10] Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

JUNIOR CHURCH MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION:  The Junior Church Ministry is dedicated to nurturing the spiritual growth of children, typically aged 5 to 12, during regular church services. The goal is to provide an age-appropriate, engaging, and interactive environment where children can learn about the Bible, develop a personal relationship with God, and build a strong foundation in Christian faith.
By creating a safe, enthusiastic, and nurturing environment, the Junior Church Ministry helps children
develop a lifelong love for God and the church community. This ministry lays the groundwork for them to grow into spiritually mature adults who continue to walk in faith.

Kingdom Keeper Security Ministry

 

Mission Statement:

To be a people of purpose praise, and power and good stewards of the house of God, and to protect God’s people and provide a safe environment for the people of God to worship without worry. Respond to emergency within the church compound medical, disruptive people, domestic violence, assess situations notify the proper authorities. To help the ushers in evacuating the building in the case of any emergencies.

Vision Statement:

To provide a safe and secure environment for all who enter the house of God, and to allow people to worship without worry. Also with the increase of crime and attacks on places of worship need to be vigilant and cautious while showing hospitality.

  • Security camera system around all the property the church owns.

•             Man and women and youth of God to provide safety and security for all daily

operation.

  • More lighting in all church parking lots.

  • Training security and member to identify risks.

  • Provide clear direction in the case of emergency.

Scripture:

(1 Peter 5:8 Be well balanced, be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring, seeking someone to seize upon and devour). We will not let the devil size us up and try to devour us.

King Solomon Ministry

 

MISSION STATEMENT

As Disciples of Christ, the mission of The Twelfth Baptist Church King Solomon Ministry is to help promote the growth of the church by praising God, becoming an inspiration, and by being alive in the spirit. We will share the love of God with other ministries, members, non-members and the community.

In addition, visitation of the sick and shut in, recruit new members, not only for The King Solomon Ministry but also for the church body. The ministry mission is to assist the church in meeting its goals and financial obligations through fundraisers, kitchen duties, and most important through prayers.


VISION STATEMENT

Our Vision is to raise funds to help alleviate the fiscal burden of the church by fundraisers such as our annual outing and conceit; joining together with other ministries to help rise additional funds, and continue visitation of the sick and outreach to the youth and community members.

KITCHEN MINISTRY PLAN

 

Mission

The MISSION of the Twelfth Baptist Church Kitchen Ministry is to extend the love of Christ and show radical hospital in everything we do.

Vision

Pray in agreement with our pastor, church body and the Trustees, trusting God, that we will have a state-of-the-art kitchen facility to enhance our kingdom ministry in food and service to others

Scripture

“They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,
praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.” Acts 2:46-47

 

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the Glory of God.”. (1 Corinthians 10:31)

Focus Prayer:

Father, help us as a ministry to work in love and for your glory and honor in this ministry, We place our trust in you, for You are Jehovah-Jireh, our provider. Is anything too hard for you? We know not!

Your word says m Mark 11 ;24: " whatever we ask for in prayer, believe that we have received it and it will be ours". In the name of Jesus, we believe for a brand new state-of- the- arts kitchen facility for kingdom service. We know that all things you will  do it at the right time which is Your time. GOALS / Strategies

To provide quality services with a humble Christian Attitude

Ensuring that all public health departments’ standards are adhered to in food preparation, food storage and food service.

 

  • Train all members in the instruction of proper Food Handling and proper dress code for cooking or serving food.

  • Planning of menus preparation and set up of food and eating areas clean after each event

  • Dispense of remaining food by letting the diners know they can come back for more

  • Ensures that the kitchen is properly cleaned, fully stocked, and equipment maintained or replaced.

Showing radical hospital to our church family and the larger community

 

  • Prepare, assist and serving healthy and nutritious meals for Special events or occasions as requested by the senior pastor or organizations.

  • Provide our seniors with a hot healthy meal every Sunday after service.

  • Provide seniors with takeout meals every Sunday.

  • Assist with our pre-school means as needed.

  • Prepare Funeral Repast meals for church members.

  • Accommodate visitors for taking out plates if they have to leave at special events or on Sundays.

  • Dispense left over food by letting the diners know they can come back for more.

  • Have supplies on hand to tend to diabetics special needs

  • Greet and serve Guests and Members in a generous, friendly manner.

  • Designate Greeter for seating, refilling glasses and taking care of the diners needs

Show the love of God by serving as an evangelistic arm of the gospel   of Jesus, which is to bring people to Christ and display His Love for us through service.

 

  • We seek to conducts a weekly outreach ministry by conducting a Meals-on- wheels program for our seniors, home confined, and sick-and-shut in members in the near future.

 

Perform and Duties

 

  • Order, purchase and maintaining all kitchen supplies and food for use during gathering

  • Coordinating, assigning and scheduling the use of the Kitchen utility.

  • Increase the number of willing volunteers or ministries to work in the kitchen monthly

LITERARY FELLOWSHIP MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION:  The LFM Mission is three-fold:

(1) To engage, encourage and support each other in fellowship through discussion and exploration of various forms of literature.

(2) To show patience, kindness and love towards each other when differing points of view are expressed, and

(3) To provide a safe space where all are welcomed, accepted and loved upon.

The LFM Vision’s foundation is based in love through on-the-ground implementation of our mission of love and Christian fellowship. And if we practice this vision of love in real time, all participants will leave feeling seen and heard and will have enjoyed the experience with an eagerness to return.

Activities in addition to our quarterly book talks include facilitating Friday night prayer service and cooking for TBC seniors at least one Sunday a year.

For fall 2024, LFM will be traveling to NYC to visit the J.P. Morgan Library exhibit featuring Belle da Costa Greene, the main character in the book, a Black American woman, who was forced to hide her true identity and pass as white during her tenure as J.P. Morgan’s personal librarian.

MISSION / VISION: "To be a beacon of spiritual expression through dance, embodying the scripture 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, as we honor God with our bodies and inspire the congregation to experience the Word through the art of movement. "Mission Statement" Our mission is to interpret the scriptures and demonstrate worship through liturgical dance, using our bodies as vessels to manifest the presence of the Holy Spirit, guiding the congregation towards a deeper understanding and connection with God.

MEN'S FELLOWSHIP MINISTRY

To develop and strengthen the characteristics of Christ in the men and young men of TBC

To serve God through support of the Mission and Vision of The Twelfth Baptist Church with the unique callings that God has given to men.

Increase our knowledge of and strengthen our relationship with God that we may have the power through the Holy Spirit to stand and act in His righteousness as males created in His image.

MENTAL HEALTH MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION: Our Mental Health Mental Health Ministry is a church-based program dedicated to supporting mental and emotional well-being within the congregation and the wider community.

This ministry focuses on raising awareness about mental health issues, providing education, and offering support through counseling, support groups, workshops, and seminars. It aims to reduce stigma associated with mental illness and promote a holistic approach to well-being, integrating spiritual, emotional, and psychological care.

The Mental Health Ministry often collaborates with mental health professionals to provide resources and referrals, ensures that church leaders and members are trained to recognize and respond to mental health needs, and creates a compassionate environment where individuals feel safe to seek help.

Activities might include prayer sessions, Bible studies focused on mental health, and events that encourage open discussions around mental health topics

STRATEGIES
1.    Continued support of community ministries such as food Pantry, Angel Tree, Thrift store, community outreach cookout, and Prison Outreach ministry as church members are called to support and continue those ministries.

2.    To invite and welcome the community to Twelfth Baptist activities through personal invitations, newspaper and web advertising, and church newsletter.

MISSIONS MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION: The Missions Ministry is committed to liberating God’s people through the love of Jesus Christ in our church, the community, the nation, and beyond.

MEMBERSHIP The Missions Ministry is a duly elected ministry that convenes on the third Sunday of each month. It has nine members.

AREAS OF CONCENTRATION

· Annual Missions Sunday is usually celebrated in March.

· Senior Outreach

· Senior Luncheons on the fourth Sunday of each month

· Love care gift cards to TBC Seniors

· Support/Assist our TBC Swingers Ministry

· Sponsor the annual Angel Tree Celebration for children of incarcerated parents or guardians,

· Friday’s community Peace Walks with community, law enforcement officers, and local leaders

· Evaluate and streamline the distribution process for the TBC Food Pantry, which serves over 40,000 clients. Most recently, Missions provided financial support for the renovation of the Food Pantry site.

· Support our Pastor in improving the structure of The Returning Citizens and Restoration Ministry.

· Support the TBC Honduras Foreign Missions Ministry led by Deaconess Sharon Keyes (e.g., shipped barrels of non-perishable food items, clothing, and other miscellaneous items and provided financial assistance).

· Continuous financial support to the Charles B. Harris School in Liberia, Africa.

· Continue to support and encourage our church family and friends through our outreach ministry by sending greeting cards.

· Collaborate with various community partners to support our members and those families/individuals who need resources or additional support.

NURSES MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION: Mission: The TBC Nurses’ Ministry is a dedicated group of RNs, LPNs, and others who serve the TBC family during services and other times by providing first aid in emergencies and care for the suddenly ill, emotionally upset, or injured. The mission of the Twelfth Baptist Church nurses is service to God.

· The Nurse’s Creed: Lord let us as nurses begin every day with your blessing to provide care for those who need us. Give us the patience to listen, the intuition to see beyond the visible, the knowledge to practice the art of nursing, and the attitude to deliver care with humility. Help us to see every patient clearly, unbiasedly, and with individual respect. Help us to face fear and anxiety with kind words and a gentle touch. · Our ministry monthly meeting is held on the second Sunday of the month at church or during the evening on the second Sunday of each month via Zoom.

PHONE MINISTRY


MISSION
•    Point of contact on Sunday morning between senior citizens needing a ride, transportation ministry which provides the ride and diaconate in case of health crisis or emergency when speaking with seniors

MISSION / VISION: The Twelfth Baptist Church Prison Ministries seek to minister grace and love to families affected by crime and incarceration.

S.A.M.H. Housing (Second African Meeting House Corporation)

MISSION / VISION: The Nonprofit Organization that covers community activities outside of the faith-based purpose of Twelfth Baptist Church. It covers a Housing Organization. Christian Pre-School, After School Program, and Summer Enrichment Program.

SCHOOL OF THE BIBLE

MISSION / VISION: The School of the Bible Ministry focuses on providing in-depth biblical education and spiritual growth. Its goal is to equip individuals with a comprehensive understanding of the Bible, fostering a stronger relationship with God and enhancing their ability to serve in various ministerial capacities.

SECURITY TEAM / KINGDOM BUILDERS MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION: Our vision is to embody a community where every individual feels deeply loved and welcomed, reflecting Christ’s love through our actions and attitudes, and setting a standard for hospitality that encourages spiritual growth and unity within our church and beyond.

GUIDING SCRIPTURE: 1 Peter 5:8 Be well balanced, be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring, seeking someone to seize upon and devour). We will not let the devil size us up and try to devour us.

Sign Language Ministry

 

MISSION STATEMENT
 

The Sign Language Ministry is responsible for using our hands to communicate and interpret the Sunday morning worship service and special events, such as the Martin Luther King, Jr. convocation, in its entirety, to those who are deaf, hard of hearing, and deaf blind, using American Sign Language.

 

VISION
 

The Sign Language Ministry will educate the church body about deaf awareness and deaf culture, thus becoming a church, which embraces people who are visually and hearing impaired.

Mark 7:31-5 7 31  Then he returned from the region of Tyre and went through Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, in the region of the Decapolis. 32 And they brought to him a man who was deaf and had a speech impediment, and they begged him to lay his hand on him. 33 And taking him aside from the crowd privately, he put his fingers into his ears, and after spitting touched his tongue. 34 And looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.” 35  And his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly. 36 And Jesus[a] charged them to tell no one. But the more he charged them, the more zealously they proclaimed it. 37 And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. FOCUSED PRAYER

We are praying for God’s favor upon the sign language ministry, while praying that we will always be ready for whosoever may come into this house.

We are also praying that the Sign Language Ministry will become a vessel through which God’s work is done.

 

GOALS

  • To develop a means by which the Ministerial Team, Ushers, Music Ministry, AV, Greeters, and Ushers, are knowledgeable about deaf culture protocol and Deaf ministry missions over the next year.

  • To make sure the deaf community always has visual access to interpreters

  • To interpret every Sunday church service

  • To interpret at least 50% of special services.

  • To continually improve interpreter’s skill level

 

STRATAGY

  • Set up a meeting in the months to come with Reverend Gerald and Diaconate Chairs about deaf culture and protocol.

  • Designated seating and clear visual access in the sanctuary, at all times

  • Interpret Sunday services in its entirety, in ASL.

  • Sign special services such as the Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation, Good Friday services, ect.

  • To attend at least two deaf culture events as a ministry, by the end of December 2012.

SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

MISSION / VISION:  A church-run summer enrichment program is a faith-based initiative typically organized by a church to provide children and youth ages 5-13 with educational, spiritual, and recreational activities during the summer months. These programs are designed to foster personal growth, community engagement, and spiritual development

The Sunday School Ministries of Twelfth Baptist Church will provide an appropriate place for each individual of every age, gender, and marital status, in which that individual can be taught with developmentally appropriate learning materials and methods, in an environment of support, encouragement, and exhortation.

VISION STATEMENT
The Sunday school program at Twelfth Baptist Church will provide a place and curriculum for all persons who attend to be transformed and inspired followers of Christ.

SCRIPTURE
I want their hearts to be encouraged and united in love, so that they may have all the riches of assured understanding and have the knowledge of God’s mystery, that is, Christ himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2:2-3

GOALS AND STRATEGIES
1.    Teach the word of God to all persons at every age and development level
2.    Sponsor programs to encourage and enhance leadership skills
3.    Plan activities for fellowship and nurturing of the Sunday school membership
4.    Encourage persons to reach out to their friends, neighbors, and community with the Gospel to make disciples.
5.    Provide a safe and secure environment for all individuals.

1.    Ensure that all teachers are grounded in the Word of God by participating in Bible Study Classes.

SWINGERS MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION: A groups of seniors that gather bi-weekly at TBC for food, and fellowship.
They Periodically go on day trips that engage and keep them moving with age appropriate community and support.

GUIDING SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 46:4  Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

MISSION / VISION: MISSION: Point of contact on Sunday morning between senior citizens needing a ride, transportation ministry which provides the ride and diaconate in case of health crisis or emergency when speaking with seniors. - Direct visitors who may enter Second African Meeting House - Answer TBC telephones
and direct calls as necessary.

THRIFT SHOP MINISTRY

 

MISSION STATEMENT:

(What you are doing presently: the mission statement is what we believe we are here for and why we exist or reason for existence).

To  inspect the donated items to make sure that they are in good clean condition to be sold and thereby provide clothing or other household items to the community at a nominal fee or for a love gift, and to minister the love of God to anyone who comes in.

VISION STATEMENT:

(Future: a vision statement establishes the direction for achieving our mission or what it wants to become).

To exp[ance our volunteer staff to include more man so there is a man on every shift. To be open six days a week with adequate staff. To become the most outstanding thrift shop in Roxbury, whereby clients will be glad to come because they know they will find worthy selections of clothing. To be more compassionate to those in need and realize but for the grace of God - there go I.

GOALS

  • We need God to provide more workers and good clean usable clothing

  • For members and others to make a sacrifice and donate good clean clothing

  •  We don’t want cast off clothing form your closet that is not in sell-able condition and that you would not want to wear

  • We want to be a self –sustaining ministry that is useful to the community and not a burden on the church. The money made from our ministry should pay for our expenses. Our goal is to increase our contributions to the church and to be a blessing to the community.

  • We want to take advantage of our being easily accessible to the community because of being located on the bus line and our hours of operation are good.

  • We would love to be open six days a week. We are open Tuesday thru Friday from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:30 am until 3:00 pm to serve the people. We are closed Sunday and Monday

STRATAGY

  • Many of our volunteers arc retirees and wc arc always recruiting new volunteers

ACTION PLAN:

  • Our action plan is to continue to encourage members to join this ministry.

  • Everyone in the ministry is on a team. We have a morning team and an afternoon team on Saturday. During the week, because of the hours we are open, two teams are not necessary.

  • We have a schedule that we follow whether you are a weekly or monthly volunteer. If we are unable to work on your assigned day, it is your responsibility to notify someone on your team or the church office.

  • As part of our responsibilities, we need to sort the donated clothing and hang them up, according to size and gender when the items come in. Plastic gloves are provided it you need them and we also have a sanitizing medicine available.

  • We need to make sure the thrift shop Is neat in appearance at all times.

  • Make our thrift shop one that is noted for having good clean clothing.

5           To hold yard sales throughout the year and therefore get to know our neighbors.

  • To have a summer and winter fellowship gathering for the members of this ministry to let them know that

TRANSPORTATION MINISTRY

We the members of the Transportation Ministry are called to support those who have paved the way for us, and to assist future generations in obtaining access to the Word of God.


VISION STATEMENT

To reach out to the seniors of our church and offer to provide a means for them to attend the multiple functions being held at Twelfth Baptist Church.

TRUSTEE MINISTRY

MISSION STATEMENT
The Trustee Board works with the pastor in the management of church-owned properties, investments, and the financial and legal affairs of the church to support the mission and vision of Twelfth Baptist Church.
Committees:   
The Personnel Committee formulates job descriptions, retirement plans; health plans, and reviews the performance of the church staff.
The Budget Committee reviews the budget and makes recommendations to the full Board of Trustees.

VISION STATEMENT
The Board of Trustees, working closely with the Pastor, will respond to God’s call in supervising and maintaining all property belonging to God and the congregation so that the ministries of the church can be effective within the community and the world.

1.    Oversee, maintain, and supervise all church property

Manage church property 

●    Conduct an annual inspection and inventory of all properties 
●    Establish and assign committees the responsibilities to inspect, analyze and inventory all properties 
●    Inspect and setup a maintenance schedule of equipment as deemed necessary
●    Address maintenance and repair needs of all property as needed

●    Appraise all property and equipment at least every three years to update the evaluation
   
3.    Receive and administer all gifts made to the church and Supervise   
      investments of all trust funds of the congregation

USHERS MINISTRY

 

 Mission Statement

We believe that we are called to be Doorkeepers of the House of the Lord to ensure that every person is greeted with a warm welcome, seated comfortably and provided with a bulletin to familiarize them with the order of service. We are also alert to actions surrounding the church and the congregation (such as fire or sickness).

Vision Statement

The usher vision is three-fold

  1. To increase the total number of committed ushers.

  2. View all ushers practicing radical hospitality

  3. Re-establish the junior ushers’ ministry.

  4. To be s unified in all areas within the ministry of ushering

Our mission, rooted in God's love and guidance, is to address the mental and physical health needs and substance use within our congregation and community. We are committed to providing comprehensive education, reducing stigma, and fostering healing. Our outreach extends beyond the walls of our church, aiming to impact the wider community, embracing intersectional identities and experiences, including gender identity (e.g., Black men and Black women) and age groups (e.g., youth and seniors). We seek to gather and disseminate information on the effects of historical, intergenerational, and current racism, interpersonal and community trauma, and social determinants of health on well-being and substance use. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we aim to uplift and improve health outcomes, promoting holistic well-being through faith, compassion, and community support."

The mission of the TBC Women’s Ministry is to build up the body of Women by providing Bible study, fellowship, support, leadership opportunities, programs and resources for spiritual and personal growth to equip, guide, and strengthen our faith, prayer life, and Christian walk with God.

Our purpose is to build a ministry that will empower all women to live a purposeful life that will impact others to draw closer to God through prayer, witness and service that is
Ordained by and glorifies- God.

To build a youth ministry that will:

 

  • Guide our youth to stand firm in their beliefs, be consistance in their walk, grow as disciples of Jesus Chris, have accountable relationships, and serving in a Christ-like manner in the church, the community, and in the world at large.

MISSION / VISION: The Mission of the TBC Zoomers Ministry: To have an in-church cadre of individuals skilled in Zoom and other technologies, capable of providing technology support for church meetings, events, gatherings, appealing to all generations and to members, non-members within the Roxbury community and throughout the world.
