AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM - a S.A.M.H. Program

MISSION / VISION: Presently working with high need youth in the Roxbury area between the ages of 5-14, the mission of the Twelfth Baptist Church After-School Program is to be a home-school connection designed to strengthen the child and family by offering academic support, and spiritual and character development in a safe, nurturing environment, while building their socio-emotional and citizenship competencies.

MISSION - VISION - SCRIPTURE

The Angel Tree Ministry, operated by Prison Fellowship, supports children and families of inmates by sharing the message of Jesus Christ. At Twelfth Baptist Church (TBC), we participate to show Jesus's love by addressing their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” ~~~1 Peter 4:10

WHAT WE DO

Throughout the year, we invite families to church events suitable for all ages and share streaming details for worship and educational experiences about the Good News. During Christmas, we hold a celebration that includes gifts, Gospel sharing, and personal notes for children with incarcerated parents.

WHEN WE MEET

Starting in September, when we begin accepting Angel Tree Families, and continuing through December, culminating in the holiday celebration. During this period, we reach out to the families to confirm the information provided by Prison Fellowship, and church members choose children for gift purchases.

AUDIO VISUAL BROADCAST MINISTRY - 6/26/2026

MISSION - VISION - SCRIPTURE

To distribute the sound and visuals of church worship and special services throughout the sanctuary and various church facilities.

To take the Word outside the walls of this church through various Internet Media Outlets

To document the activities of the church using Audio, Video and Photography

To be multimedia research and learning center for the Christian community.

WHAT WE DO:

Setup and Operate Video equipment, Audio equipment, and related systems for Recording,

We provide these services in the Sanctuary, Hester Hall, Shaw Hall, our outside spaces and other TBC areas.

BABY DEDICATION MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION : The Baby Dedication Ministry is a faith-based service where parents publicly commit to raising their children according to their religious beliefs and values. It often involves a ceremony during a worship service where a pastor or church leader prays for the child and the family. The ministry focuses on supporting families through spiritual guidance, resources, and community activities to help nurture the child's faith and development.

BOOKSHELF MINISTRY - currently closed

Mission/ VISION
The Bookshelf Ministry Room is located in the Narthex, is temporarily closed.
During many previous years of operation, this non-profit Ministry was open every Sunday after the Morning Worship Service.
The Bookshelf supports and promotes the mission of Twelfth Baptist Church through the sale of Bibles, Bible accessories, devotional guides, assorted boxed cards, and spiritual literature to members and visitors.
Focus: The Bookshelf Ministry encourages TBC members and non-members to seek a personal relationship with the Lord, and to practice a Godly lifestyle that supports their spiritual growth and builds up the body of Christ.

Key Activities:

The Bookshelf maintains inventory and conducts sales during its hours of operation.

Goals:

To re-envision and restructure the Bookshelf Ministry to

Include on-line sales.

To expand staffing.

To maintain adequate inventory based on the needs and interest of TBC members.

CENTRAL OFFICE MINISTRY - staff

MISSION / VISION: The Central Office Ministry serves as the administrative and organizational hub for our church community and network. It coordinates various ministries, manages resources, oversees church plans, and provides support to local church body. The office typically handles communications, and scheduling for Senior Pastor and church leaders, ensuring that the overall mission and vision of the denomination of the Church or network are carried out efficiently and effectively.

CHRISTIAN BOARD OF EDUCATION - elected

MISSION / VISION: The Christian Board of Education Ministries of Twelfth Baptist Church will invite people and communities of faith to be transformed as they are inspired and challenged.
VISION STATEMENT Through Christian Education disciples will be inspired and challenged to know and experience God through Jesus Christ, claim and live God’s promises, and grow and serve as Christian disciples.

CHRISTIAN PRESCHOOL - currently closed

MISSION / VISION: Our Christian preschool's mission is to provide a nurturing, faith-based educational environment for young children ages 2.9 yrs.—6 yrs. Of age. The primary goals are to foster early childhood development, instill Christian values, and prepare children for future academic success. This mission often includes teaching foundational skills—such as literacy, numeracy, and social interaction—while integrating Biblical principles and spiritual growth through stories, songs, prayers, and activities that reflect Christian teachings. (Temporarily Closed).

CLOTHES RACK / THRIFT SHOP

MISSION / VISION: To inspect the donated items to make sure that they are in good clean condition to be sold and thereby provide clothing or other household items to the community at a nominal fee or for a love gift, and to minister the love of God to anyone who comes in.

GUIDING SCRIPTURE: SCRIPTURE Matthew 6:1-4 be careful not to do your “acts of righteousness” before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven, oo when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. DORCAS PARTNERSHIP MINISTRY - 5/26/2026

VISION - SCRIPTURE

We are the Dorcus Ministry. The Dorcus Partnership Ministry (DPM) is a small group of dedicated God-fearing members, who love the Lord and share this love with others in need of comfort. DPM members provide support to those who are in need of spiritual uplifting or have any other matters that require assistance.

Scripture: Matthew 5:16 (NIRSV)

"In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven"

WHAT WE DO:

The members of DPM contact members, who are 90+ via telephone and provide prayer and bible readings. Birthday cards are mailed every month to seniors 80+ in age and every other month to Seniors who in nursing homes. Prior to COVID, the DPM visited members in nursing homes to offer companionship by conversing, playing games or having small birthday celebrations. DPM also assessed needs of the Seniors and prayed with them. We also invited seniors and their family members to come to the church to celebrate their birthdays with us; throwing them a small party. As COVID changed most of the ways in which we interacted with the Seniors, we still maintained relationships with them via telephone. The Aim of Dorcus is to get the organization running similar to pre-Covid days. We would like to do more for our Seniors and test the waters to see what can be practically reinstated, newly incorporated or changed.

As Our long-time seasoned members are getting up in age, we would like to welcome additional church members to our ministry to share in our Wonderful purposeful fellowship and to help offload some of the duties of our current members who are battling health issues and tending to personal family members.

FOOD PANTRY MINISTRY - 6/26/2026

MISSION - VISION - SCRIPTURE

The Twelfth Baptist Church Food Pantry’s mission is to provide a week’s supply of food to those who need food in our community. In doing so, we fulfill the Mission of Twelfth Baptist Church: “to extend the love of God.”

The Twelfth Baptist Church Food Pantry started in 1996. Food was distributed by members of Twelfth. The first week of distribution we serviced three families. Now after 28 years, we currently provide food to a weekly average of 200 families.

Motto: Fighting Hunger—Feeding hope

Twelfth Baptist Church shall address and minister to the social issue of hunger by providing nourishing food items to families within our congregation and surrounding community trusting in the Lord to expand our program as the need increases.

For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger, and you invited me in.

WHAT WE DO:

One of the services we provide is to pray with each group as they wait in line to receive their bag of groceries, vegetables, bread, and meat.

Volunteers of the pantry attend seminars and participate in other events to keep Abreast with all the issues of hunger and food insecurity.

Monthly Reports are required by the Greater Boston Food Bank, and the Food Pantry operates from donations, such as Target and the Food Bank, support from fundraising and individual donations.

WHEN WE MEET:

Mondays: and Thursdays, we collect donations from Target.

On Tuesdays Mornings we collect donations from the Greater Boston Food Bank.

On Tuesdays, 12:00pm to 1:30pm. We distribute food to our clients.

GIRL SCOUTS MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION: As Girl Scout leaders, we will continue to teach our girls to live by the Girl Scout Promise and the Girl Scouts Law, to serve God and Country, and to respect each other and people at all times.

What sets the TBC Girl Scouts 2024/ 2025 apart? Our unique program aims to recruit girls between the ages of 5 and 18, offering them the chance to experience the full spectrum of Girl Scouts activities. From intellectual growth to leadership and organizational skills, domestic skills, sewing, cooking, and more, our program is designed to foster well-rounded, capable individuals.
We aim to guide these girls into adulthood, equipped with the skills and values instilled by the Girl Scouts.

Our Girl Scouts Ministry runs from September 2024 through May 2025, the same as the Boston Public School schedule. Our meetings are on the second Saturday of each month from 1:00p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

GUIDING SCRIPTURE: 1 CORINTHIANS 12:27-31 "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues. GOLF MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION: Our Church's Golf Ministry is a program designed to use golf as a way to foster fellowship, community, and outreach among church members and beyond. MISSION / VISION: Aligning its work to overeaching tenets, the Grants Ministry explores funding opportunities that parallel with Twelfth Baptist Church’s goals relating to community outreach, family services and capital improvements. Working with the Senior Pastor, the ministry seeks opportunities to support programs and building use by writing for grants.

HOSPITALITY MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION: "At Twelfth Baptist Church Hospitality Ministry, our mission is to extend love and hospitality to all members and visitors in alignment with 1 Peter 4:8-9, aiding our pastor by fostering a welcoming and grumble-free environment that covers a multitude of sins through deep love and service.

JUNIOR CHURCH MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION: The Junior Church Ministry is dedicated to nurturing the spiritual growth of children, typically aged 5 to 12, during regular church services. The goal is to provide an age-appropriate, engaging, and interactive environment where children can learn about the Bible, develop a personal relationship with God, and build a strong foundation in Christian faith.
By creating a safe, enthusiastic, and nurturing environment, the Junior Church Ministry helps children
develop a lifelong love for God and the church community. This ministry lays the groundwork for them to grow into spiritually mature adults who continue to walk in faith.

KITCHEN MINISTRY

MISSION - VISION - SCRIPTURE

The Kitchen Ministry serves our congregation members and visitors by offering both physical food and spiritual support. It nurtures bodies and feeds souls with compassion and love. Committed to providing high-quality meals in a warm, inviting environment, the Kitchen Ministry demonstrates God’s love in action.

WHAT WE DO

On the first Sunday of each month, a continental breakfast is available before and after the worship service. Additionally, on the fourth Sunday, lunch is provided for seniors, the congregation, and visitors.

KING SOLOMON MINISTRY - 6/2026

MISSION - VISION – SCRIPTURE

The mission of King Solomon Ministry is a commitment to God, church. love, harmony, visiting, sending cards or calls to the sick and shut in. Raise funds to help defray the expenses of the church through fundraising. One of our commitments is to be involved in church activities and the activities of other ministries when needed or asked. LITURGICAL DANCE MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION: "To be a beacon of spiritual expression through dance, embodying the scripture 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, as we honor God with our bodies and inspire the congregation to experience the Word through the art of movement. "Mission Statement" Our mission is to interpret the scriptures and demonstrate worship through liturgical dance, using our bodies as vessels to manifest the presence of the Holy Spirit, guiding the congregation towards a deeper understanding and connection with God.

LITERARY FELLOWSHIP MINISTRY (LFM) - 6/2026

MISSION – VISION - SCRIPTURE

The LFM Mission is threefold: (1) to engage, encourage, and support participants through the discussion and exploration of diverse works of literature; (2) to model patience, kindness, and love when differing viewpoints arise; and (3) to provide a safe and welcoming space where all are accepted and embraced.

The LFM Vision is guided by 1 Corinthians 13. We believe that love is at the center of our work and our fellowship. Our vision is simple yet profound: that each gathering will leave participants feeling seen, heard, and uplifted—with a renewed eagerness to return and continue the journey together.

The LFM Guiding Scripture is from Ephesians 4:32 NIV: Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

WHAT WE DO:

LFM participants read and discuss books from a variety of genres. Our goal is to explore characters, themes, and connections to the past while reflecting on how they shape our present-day world. Four authors have led book talks, readings, and signings. Authors hosted in and around Boston have included LFM members among their audiences. Film reviews are also part of LFM’s activities. Additional ministry efforts include supporting the Pastor’s “Fireside Chat” presentations, facilitating Friday night prayer service, and preparing Sunday lunch for TBC seniors.

WHEN WE MEET:

LFM meets quarterly on the third Saturday, in-person. A continental breakfast, prepared by participants, is served beginning at 9:30 AM. The book discussion is from 10:00 AM to 12 NOON. See below our next two LFM fellowships.

MEN'S FELLOWSHIP MINISTRY - 6/2026

MISSION - VISION - SCRIPTURE

To serve God through support of the Mission and Vision of The Twelfth Baptist Church with the unique callings that God has given to men. Increase our knowledge of and strengthen our relationship with God that we may have the power through the Holy Spirit to stand and act in His righteousness as males created in His image.

MENTAL HEALTH MINISTRY - see wellnes ministry

MISSION / VISION: Our Mental Health Mental Health Ministry is a church-based program dedicated to supporting mental and emotional well-being within the congregation and the wider community.

This ministry focuses on raising awareness about mental health issues, providing education, and offering support through counseling, support groups, workshops, and seminars. It aims to reduce stigma associated with mental illness and promote a holistic approach to well-being, integrating spiritual, emotional, and psychological care.

The Mental Health Ministry often collaborates with mental health professionals to provide resources and referrals, ensures that church leaders and members are trained to recognize and respond to mental health needs, and creates a compassionate environment where individuals feel safe to seek help.

Activities might include prayer sessions, Bible studies focused on mental health, and events that encourage open discussions around mental health topics

MISSIONS MINISTRY - 6/2026

MISSION / VISION: The Missions Ministry is committed to liberating God’s people through the love of Jesus Christ in our church, the community, the nation, and beyond.

MEMBERSHIP The Missions Ministry is a duly elected ministry that convenes on the third Sunday of each month. It has nine members.

MUSIC MINISTRY - 6/2026

MISSION / VISION: To Worship God in our corporate lives by uniting our voices in praise, thanksgiving, confession and petition by: Provide a Music Ministry that lead believers into the worship of God and set the hearts of unbelievers to receive Jesus Christ by hearing the love, grace and mercy of God proclaimed through a variety of musical genres… Classical, Traditional and Contemporary Music offerings.
The Music ministry Includes Musicians, Vocalist, Ensembles, and Choirs of all Ages.
We also collaborate with local music schools such as Berklee College of Music and present a number of Concerts such as the Annual Lance Martin Piano Summit” and other offerings and recitals partnering with other music ministries in the area.

WHAT WE DO:

We provide musical support for all church services including the Sunday worship service, weddings, funerals and other special services. Our Music staff includes the instrumentalists and several vocal ensembles including:

The Praise Ensemble- a smaller team of vocalists led by Worship Leader Jonathan Gramling. The praise ensemble sings regularly for the praise and worship service that precedes the Sunday morning service.

The Choir- A larger group of singers who also regularly participate in providing music for the worship service(s). This group is open to all who are interested!

Also we have vocal groups that provide music on special occasions including:

NURSES MINISTRY

MISSION / VISION: Mission: The TBC Nurses’ Ministry is a dedicated group of RNs, LPNs, and others who serve the TBC family during services and other times by providing first aid in emergencies and care for the suddenly ill, emotionally upset, or injured. The mission of the Twelfth Baptist Church nurses is service to God.

· The Nurse’s Creed: Lord let us as nurses begin every day with your blessing to provide care for those who need us. Give us the patience to listen, the intuition to see beyond the visible, the knowledge to practice the art of nursing, and the attitude to deliver care with humility. MISSION / VISION: The purpose of the Twelfth Baptist Church Re-Entry / Restoration Ministry is to share the Good News of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with inmates, ex-inmates, and their families and to assist in equipping our congregation in its mission of making disciples for Jesus Christ.

Join us as we immerse ourselves in His Word Of course, we study the inerrant, infallible Holy Bible. In addition, we use R.H. Boyd Sunday School Curriculum Books. These books allow us to maintain consistency in Sunday School lessons across the board and across all age groups. These books are free to the students

Our mission is to equip the saints with the inspired, inerrant, and infallible word of God. We envision our students skillfully and “rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Tim. 2:15. For it is this word that is the foundation for effective, bold prayer.

MISSION / VISION: A groups of seniors that gather bi-weekly at TBC for food, and fellowship.
They Periodically go on day trips that engage and keep them moving with age appropriate community and support.

The Swingers is a ministry comprised of senior age members from Twelfth Baptist Church and the larger community. Our mission is to first worship and honor God; nurture spiritual growth; foster fellowship inside and outside of the church walls, encourage service, promote well-being; and leave a legacy for future generations.

Our scripture verse is Isaiah 40:31 –
“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.

WHAT WE DO:

We have guest speakers who present information on a variety of topics which include, but are not limited to cancer awareness, heart disease, mental health issues, challenges of aging, safety, Medicare and social security updates. We have movie days, trips, exercise, arts and crafts.

TRUSTEE MINISTRY - Elected Office

MISSION / VISION: Our mission is to serve as faithful stewards of the church’s physical and financial resources, ensuring responsible management and transparent accountability. As custodians of the church's assets, the Trustee Ministry diligently oversees both liquid and fixed resources, working to accurately achieve the financial goals and objectives of the church community.

VISION: Our vision is to align with God's divine plan for the stewardship of the resources entrusted to the Church. Trustees actively participate in committees, taking responsibility for preparing and presenting comprehensive reports that provide clarity and transparency to the entire church body. This collaborative approach demonstrates our unwavering commitment to prudent stewardship, as we manage the resources bestowed upon us to further the mission and vision of the church.

MANAGEMENT: The Trustee Ministry will support and collaborate closely with the Pastor in managing all aspects of church-owned properties, finances, investments, and legal matters. Our key responsibilities encompass a range of financial and governance duties that ensure sound financial stewardship and operational efficiency within the church. These responsibilities include:

MISSION / VISION: We believe that we are called to be Doorkeepers of the House of the Lord to ensure that every person is greeted with a warm welcome and seated comfortably. We are also alert to actions surrounding the church and the congregation (such as fire or sickness).

MISSION / VISION: Vision Statement: With God’s guidance, we strive to create a thriving and resilient Black community in and outside of church walls, where mental health, physical health, and substance use disorders are understood, supported, and overcome through education, empowerment, and community solidarity.

Our mission, rooted in God's love and guidance, is to address the mental and physical health needs and substance use within our congregation and community. We are committed to providing comprehensive education, reducing stigma, and fostering healing. Our outreach extends beyond the walls of our church, aiming to impact the wider community, embracing intersectional identities and experiences, including gender identity (e.g., Black men and Black women) and age groups (e.g., youth and seniors). We seek to gather and disseminate information on the effects of historical, intergenerational, and current racism, interpersonal and community trauma, and social determinants of health on well-being and substance use. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we aim to uplift and improve health outcomes, promoting holistic well-being through faith, compassion, and community support."

WOMEN'S - CHURCHWOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP MINISTRY - 6/2026

MISSION SCRIPTUE: PROVERBS 3:7-8

MISSION:

The TBC Women’s Fellowship Ministry is comprised of every female member of Twelfth Baptist Church. Its mission is to encourage and support each woman, as well as mentoring your women to become the ministry’s future leaders and in their community. It is to build up the body of Women by providing Biby Study, fellowship, support, programs, and resources for spiritual and personal growth to equip, guide, and strengthen their faith, prayer life, and Christian walk with God.

VISION:

Our vision is to build a ministry that will empower all Women to live a purposeful life that will impact others to draw closer to God through prayer, witness and service that is ordained by and glorifies God.

WHAT WE DO:

The ministry sponsors two main events, The Annual Tea Event and The October Weekend Event. The Tea is held on the first Saturday in June. The October Event is held the last weekend in October over a three day period. During The Tea Event, the women engage with each other through fellowship, wearing fancy outfits accessorized with fancy hats and gloves, having a special guest speaker, drinking a variety of teas, eating a variety of pastries and mini sandwiches, music, and collaborating with other ministries such as the Liturgical Dance Ministry. The October Weekend Event begins with the ministry hosting Twelfth Baptist Church Friday of Hour of Power Prayer Service on Zoom. It is a night of testimonies, singing, devotion, and focus prayer. Saturday consists of different workshops, lunch, a special guest speaker, lunch, token gift bags, and fellowship. On Sunday, the Women take over the entire worship service culminating with a guest speaker/minister, a Women’s Choir, Liturgical Dance Ministry, and poetry.

WHEN WE MEET:

The Women’s Fellowship Ministry meet every fourth Saturday at the church from 10am to 12noon throughout the year. During inclement weather, the meetings are held on Zoom at the same time.
